Have
you ever heard this famous movie line? “Youre nothing but the second rate
trying hard copy cat”. I think so, and because of its popularity it became a
trademark in philippine movie industry,
when it comes to on the spot acting we usually heard this lines. In the scene
where this line are used the actress was very angry because she thinks that the
other actress is trying to imitate her. Copying or imitation for us is not bad
because it shows that you are admiring someone and you want to be like his/her.
In educational context we are subjected to the consequence of copyright of R.A
8293 if we are not being aware of this policy & guidelines of our law. So
let’s talk about it.
In our previous lesson we tackle about copyright of R.A 8293
and my classmates explain it well, Thanks to them. In the middle of our
discussion I remember a related issue happen in our politics where one of our
senatorwhere accused that a piece of his speech was being plagiarize, This
senator insisted that he did not do anything wrong that what he has spoken
during the court session was from his own. I wonder even there is a strong
evidence these senator didn’t punished for what he has done. After the class I’ve
search more about the plagiarism and this is what I found.
Many people think of plagiarism as copying another's work or borrowing someone else's original ideas. But terms like "copying" and "borrowing" can disguise the seriousness of the offense:
According to the Merriam-Webster online dictionary, to "plagiarize" means:
- to steal and pass off (the ideas or words of another) as one's own
- to use (another's production) without crediting the source
- to commit literary theft
- to present as new and original an idea or product derived from an existing source
In other words, plagiarism is an act of fraud. It involves both stealing someone else's work and lying about it afterward.
In other words plagiarism is an act of fraud and according
to U.S Law words and ideas can be stolen. The expression of the original idea
is considered to be an intellectual property and protected by copy right law.
So my friends, before you share any thoughts or information make it sure that
you are not stealing someone’s idea. However we can copy ideas in a right and a
lawful way that you are not violating any policies. A friendly reminder “Think
